Imagine if the combined offerings of Ebay, Etsy and Craigslist were displayed along hundreds of miles of highway. You could drive all day, stopping to examine four-poster beds and vintage vinyl record albums. How about bakery
mixers, Depression-era glass or a working Coke machine from the ’50s?

Once a year, devoted yard salers drive down Highway 127 to scope out furniture, knickknacks and more wares displayed by thousands of vendors along the “World’s Longest Yard Sale,” which stretches an impressive 690 miles (and growing) from Michigan to Alabama.

The 127 Corridor Sale brings swarms of visitors to places like Russell Springs, Kentucky, and Sherwood, Ohio, jamming these little towns with bumper-to-bumper traffic over one long August weekend. But no one seems to mind.

There’s no way to see it all, so don’t even try. Veteran shoppers set up their base camp in one town and focus on a region. No matter where you end up, you’re bound to bring home a car full of treasures.
