1. Print Cross Stitch Christmas Card pattern.
  2. Zigzag or overcast edges of Aida cloth to prevent fraying. Fold Aida cloth in half lengthwise, then in half crosswise to find center and mark this point.
  3. To find center of chart, draw lines across chart connecting opposite arrows. Begin stitching at this point so design will be centered.
  4. Working with 18-in. lengths of six-strand floss, separate strands and use two strands for cross-stitching and one strand for French knot and backstitching. See Fig. 1 for stitch illustrations.
  5. Each square on chart equals one stitch worked over a set of fabric threads. Use colors indicated on color key to complete cross-stitching, then backstitching.
  6. Do not knot floss on back of work. Instead, leave a short tail of floss on back of work and hold in place while working the first few stitches over it. To end a strand, run needle under a few neighboring stitches in back before cutting floss close to work.

  1. With design centered, trim Aida cloth to a 4-in. x 5-in. piece.
  2. Center cross-stitched design on inside of card behind oval window opening. Apply a thin bead of glue to Aida cloth near edges of window opening to attach design to card.
  3. Glue white paper centered behind design area on inside of card. Let dry.

Finished Size: Cross Stitch Christmas Card measures 5-1/2 inches high x 4-1/4 inches wide. The design area is 48 stitches high x 27 stitches wide and measures about 1-1/2 inches wide x 2-5/8 inches high.
