1. Print out embroidery patterns: option 1option 2 and option 3.
  2. Zigzag or overcast edges of aida to prevent fraying. Fold the square in half lengthwise, then fold it in half again crosswise to determine the center and mark this point. To find center of chart, draw lines across chart connecting arrows. Begin stitching at this point so design will be centered.
  3. For each ornament, center a 4-in. square of aida in the embroidery hoop and work straight stitches as shown on chart.
  4. Each line on chart represents one set of fabric threads and each square represents a hole. To begin stitching, leave about a 1-in.-long tail of pearl cotton on back of work and hold it in place while working the first few stitches around it. To end stitching, run needle under a few neighboring stitches in back before clipping pearl cotton close to work.
  5. Trim excess aida cloth with a craft knife and tie ribbon or string around screw to hang.
