Instructions

Abbreviations:

ch chain
cl close ring
— large picot, leave 1/2” space for picot
– picot, leave 3/8” space for picot
-or— either picot or large picot
= small picot, leave 1/4” space for picot

Each number listed in the directions indicates the number of double knots or stitches to be worked between picots or steps.

FLOWERS:

  1. Make as many as desired in a variety of colors. Vine card shown used four small flowers. Stem card used four large flowers topped with one small one.
  2. Small Flowers: Wind shuttle with tatting cotton or thread. Make ring of 3-3-3-3-3 cl. Cut thread ends even with picots.
  3. Large Flowers: Wind shuttle with tatting cotton or thread. Make ring of 2—2—2—2—2—2—2—2 cl. Cut thread ends even with picots.

BUTTERFLIES (Make three for each card): Wind shuttle with tatting cotton or thread. Make ring of 1—2-or—2=2=2-2—2-or—1 cl. Cut thread ends to 1/2 inch for butterfly antennae.

FLOWER PLACE CARDS:

  1. Draw in vine or stem freehand referring to Fig 1.
  2. Glue flowers onto vine or stem. Let dry.

BUTTERFLY PLACE CARD:

  1. Glue three butterflies in upper right corner of notecard as shown in photo above. Let dry.
  2. Use colored markers to fill in notecard behind picots with desired colors.

Finished size: Place cards shown are 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 inches. Sizes of flowers and butterflies will be determined by the size of the thread used.
